At Your Funeral

They asked for stories of you
They told them with sad tears
I listened cheerfully
I could not cry, I fear

They told of all your accomplishments
They told of all your dreams
They told a little bit of everything
Or so it seemed

I listened to them speak of you
And cry, and cry, and cry
Forgot about your happiness
Remembering only that you died

My turn to speak

"Man, he was a guy."
I said with a heavy sigh
But then I remembered
You lived before you died

You laughed and you smiled
You lived for the day
My memories of you
In my heart will forever stay

Here, I cannot mourn your death
But celebrate a life and all we had
For all the happiness you have given me
I cannot be sad

Goodnight my good friend
Rake the long sleep
Your happiness and memories
I will forever keep
