Patrik
Wirén - vocals, studio guitars
Örjan Örnkloo - guitar, programming
Misery Loves Co. is really just two guys; Patrik Wirén and Örjan Örnkloo. All the facts you find about them being more than 2 people in the band ARE FALSE!!!! They do of course use extra people when they go on tour so this misconception is quite understandable...
In late 1992,
Patrik Wirén and Örjan Örnkloo met at a club in Uppsala. They
realized they shared musical tastes and decided to work together.
Following many sleepless nights of work in the Studio. MNW ZONE
had a feeling that this was something to check out. The results
after listening was having them take part on the EXTREME CLOSE-UP
compilation CD which was released last June.
Their track received great reviews. Shortly
thereafter, their self titled debut album (see albums)containing 11 tracks was released.
Recorded by Adam Kviman (Clawfinger, Popsicle, Teddybears...)
Mixed by Stefan Glauman (Clawfinger, Fleshquartet, Shotgun
Messiah...), Cybersankan (Killing Joke, Peace, Love &
Pitbulls, Send No Flowers) and Thomas Hedqvist (Crawley and
H.A.L.O - featuring Graham Lewis of WIRE, DOME, HE SAID).
Örjan has
performed in various local bands in Uppsala. He has worked with
among other things the female dance trio BIKINIS, who released a
single in the fall of 1991 via WEA Records; also he has worked
with the programming for GRAHAM LEWIS (of the English band WIRE)
upcoming solo album. Patrik's first serious musical project was
with the hard rock trash band MIDAS TOUCH, who released one album
"Presage To Disaster" for the Noise Intl.. After the
groups break up followed HIGH-TECH JUNKIES who received critical
acclaim in the press.
Misery Loves Co. performed at
Hultsfred Festival 1994. The show warranted great reviews from
Sweden's largest newspapers.
Misery Loves
Co. hasn't really reached the same heights anywhere else in the
world as in Britain. For example when "Misery Loves
Co." was released, Robyn Doreian (editor in chief of Metal
Hammer) claimed that Misery Loves Co. was the sound of the
future...
After touring in England and the States (with among others
Paradise Lost) they went back to Sweden to write the new album.
The new album was "Not Like Them" and was released
during fall 1997.
Misery has since then been touring different parts of the world
(they played for example in Europe together with Entombed and
Machine Head... ...what a show!!!!) and is when this is written
working on their new album which is to be released late summer -
fall of 1999.
thanks to Luger for (without knowing) letting me copy parts of this...
