The famous movie "The Bridge Over River Kwai" actually has a faked name. The real name in Thai is "Mae-Nam Kwae" or "River Kwae. The reason to this is that someone at the film-company renamed the river to make it sound better in English. The new name also rhymes with "Die", "Lie", "My" and "Why".
"Kwai" also has a meaning in Thai; It is the word for "Buffalo".
