It was in 1807, when the Belgian beer trader Albert Le Coq established
in London the company bearing his name. And for more than a
century he marketed the production of local breweries to Russia.
During the Sino-Russian war A.Le Coq even donated 5000 bottles
of its famous porter to the Tsarskoje Seloa Military Hospital.
For this service A.Le Coq received the honourable title of Purveyor
to the Imperial Russian Court. In 1913 the company bought a
brewery in Tartu, Estonia to better service this limitless Russian
market. However, two World Wars and the rise of the Iron Curtain
put an end to the company's business. Now the brewery in Tartu is once again producing beer under the name of A.Le Coq, and it is with pride that we bring it to you. | ||
